"Devoting a program to Minimalist and microtonal compositions could easily amount to an egghead agenda; leave it to the American Modern Ensemble to make it a party instead." - The New York Times

American Modern Ensemble Celebrates its Fifth Anniversary Season

Our next program on Monday, February 8 explores five of America's finest composers, including MacArthur Genius Award winner John Eaton who is celebrating his 75th birthday. Program also includes works by Steven Burke, Sebastian Currier, Robert Paterson and Christopher Rouse.

Our final program this season on June 24 and 25, Powerhouse Pianists II, features our pianists Stephen Gosling and Blair McMillen performing works for two pianos, including Hallelujah Junction by John Adams, the world premiere of Deep Blue Ocean by Robert Paterson, Subway by Amanda Harberg and other works TBA. Hear these two titans of the piano world and purchase autographed copies of their Powerhouse Pianists CD from the sold-out show of AME's first season.

Our first program on Tuesday, November 3 was entitled m&m's - all minimalism and microtones. The concert will took place at Brooklyn's ultra hip club, Galapagos Art Space, and included works byPhilip Glass, Ben Johnston, Ingram Marshall, Steve Reich and Spencer Topel. Be sure to check out the fantastic review from Steve Smith in the New York Times.

Our season kicked off with our Annual Gala on Monday, October 19 at the Gitterman Gallery, the city's most stunning photography gallery on the upper East Side. Attendees met America's finest composers, AME artists, and heard highlights from our upcoming season.

These programs are supported, in part, by public funds from the
